Hello Parents,
On Thursday, Septemeber 2, 2010 Turman will be hosting an Open House for parents. There will be two session times and you can choose the best time to attend. The sessions are from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and from 7:00-7:30 p.m. During this time I will be discussing expectations and curriculum for first grade as well as introducing you to our classroom blog. Since the sessions are short this is not a good time to discuss your child and how he or she is doing in class. If you would like to discuss that please feel free to set up a time before or after school where we can conference. I hope to see you all there.

Behavior Policy
This year I will have very high expectations for the students because they are in first grade. I will make sure they know what is expected and the outcome for meeting or not meeting those expectations.
Discipline Policy
The following are the consequences to my discipline policy.
The students begin the day with a clothespin, with their name on it, on the purple light.
Start-(Purple Light)-Students are following the 3 R's
1st offense- (Blue Light)-Verbal Warning
2nd offense- (Green Light)- Refocus and think about behavior
3rd offense- (Yellow Light)- Refocus/Reflect in another 1st grade room.
4th offense- (Orange Light)- Call home to parent about behavior
5th offense- (Red Light)- Tell Principal about your behavior
Students who stay on purple or blue all week earn Friday fun on Fridays. This is a 15-minute free time to do an activity of their choice (puzzles, legos, drawing, etc.)
